This is in reference to an article by Military.com talking about Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel warning troops and families to “prepare to sacrifice pay and benefits to preserve readiness in an era of tighter budgets”.
Our military forces have sacrificed way more than what Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and our government want to believe. Before we think about asking our military to sacrifice their pay and benefits, we need to think about ending all the foriegn aid we provide to other countries.
How fast we seem to be forgetting what our military was called upon to do after September 11, 2001. Going after military members pay and benefits knowing that billions of our tax dollars continues to be sent oversees to countries like Pakistan, is simply a disgrace. This money is being used to “Buy” relationships, not build relationships with other countries. This money could be used in so many ways for our own people, even for our troops who continue to struggle to get medical benefits who have “sacrificed” so much for this country and others around the world.
Either way, before we start telling our military and their families, to prepare to sacrifice more (which is a ridiculous way to put it), we need to look at other areas to budget, because lets face it, our military members are loyal to this country, not Pakistan and I firmly believe my fellow Americans would agree.
