Only one percent of Americans serve in the U.S. Military, and their families have borne the disproportionate burden of more than a decade at war. Many have turned to ‘Flat Daddies‘ and ‘Heroes on a Stick,’ life-sized cardboard cutouts of their husbands, wives, parents and children serving overseas, to ease the pain of repeated deployments. Using these two-dimensional surrogates as a connecting thread, “FLAT DADDY” follows four such families, from suburban Minnesota, the Bronx, Las Vegas and rural Maine, as they unfold over the course of a year.
The “FLAT DADDY ” film crew is gearing up for the film’s Video on Demand launch. The film will be available for download from the following portals starting on November 6th 2012 — no exact time is given, but they’re excited that Flat Daddy will be active in time for Veterans Day 2012:
“FLAT DADDY “ film crew has also put out an invitation to all Bay Area residents to come out on Veterans Day (November 11, 2012) for the California Independent Film Festival screening. Be sure to keep up to date for a screening near you, by joining “Flat Daddy” on Facebook.
