Christmas time is near and when it comes to shopping, I choose going online for the simplicity and convenience. I usually check out reviews before I buy a product, however I have never come a review that got the best of my emotions until now. The product review was for “Charlie Brown Christmas” audio cd, which is a part of my holiday tradition with my family as well, but for one mother, tradition was broken back in 2006 with the loss of her son who was serving in Afghanistan.
The Amazon review starts like this:
“I went through the Christmas treasures of my son SSG Patrick Lee Lybert KIA 21 June 2006, Afghanistan. With many tears I held each item remembering the little hand that held it, searching my mind for ghosts of memories I wish I had written down.”
I got a bit choked up reading this review, because here is a mother who has lost a son serving in the military, but yet this cd was a symbol of her relationship with him. By the second line you can feel the sadness she is going through and the hurt of losing something so important. The rest of the review is simply beautiful and worth reading as it brings a mother in pain back to a moment of joy and happiness as she reminisces the time she had with him who meant more to her than anything in the world. Life is so precious, and once you have a child of your own, you realize what really is important in this world and it isn’t the materialistic items, but it is the time we spend and the memories we make with the ones we love.
In Memory of SSG Patrick Lee Lybert KIA 21 June 2006, Afghanistan
